Frequently Asked Questions
How do I eat sprouts?
Bean and soy sprouts can be eaten raw or cooked. Green sprouts (with the exception of wheat grass) can be eaten raw in salads or sandwiches or added to cooked foods. Wheatgrass is usually put in a juicer and drunk as 1 ounce shots. It is strong and not advisable to drink more than 1 a day. Do I need to wash sprouts?
It is optional. Our sprouts are washed at our facility and tested for e.coli and salmonella prior to shipping, but it never hurts to rinse them off if you desire. They are ready to eat out of the package.
How do I store sprouts?
All sprouts should be refrigerated ideally between 36 and 40 degrees. If too hot, they will decay. If too cold, they will ice up and freeze. Wheatgrass can be left out, but it will shorten its shelf life. There is no need to water them.
How do I know if the sprouts are old?
Our sprouts are free of preservatives, pesticides or additives. Bean and soy sprouts are old when brown and / or slimy. The green sprouts are old when the roots are brown. Discard if they become wet and soggy. For the crunchy sprouts they are old if there are white things growing out of the beans.
What are the numbers on the sell by dates or boxes?
All our products are tracked by lot number. These can be found on retail packs with their sell by date. The dates on the 5 and 10 lbs. bean sprout and 5 and 10 lbs. soy sprout boxes are the pack date, not sell by.
Where can I buy sprouts?
The majority of our customers are distributors throughout Florida who then sell to various stores. A list of our customers can be found on the Where to Buy page. You can also come to our facility. If coming, please bring CASH or a company check. Note: Some customers have open accounts with us and don’t need to pay to pick up products. This is only for individuals or small businesses.
Can I get a refund?
Please take them back to the store for a refund. In most cases we do not sell to individual stores or the end user. We try our best to have our products arrive in good condition. A number of factors affect the condition in which you received them. We stand by our products sold directly to our customers.
